Description

[Model Specifications]

This is the first time that the heavy cruiser "Suzuya (鈴谷)" from the Battle of Leyte Gulf (雷伊泰灣海戰) has been produced in 1/700 scale.

The four Mogami-class (最上級) cruisers have been reproduced, each with subtle differences in detail!

This is the first 1/700 scale model of the heavy cruiser "Suzuya (鈴谷)" from the Battle of Leyte Gulf (雷伊泰灣海戰).

The four Mogami-class (最上級) cruisers each have subtle differences in their design, which are faithfully reproduced!

The Special Series is a 1/700 scale waterline model that reproduces the ship above the waterline.

It is a ship model with excellent detail reproduction thanks to detailed parts division and delicate sculpting.

● This product is based on the third Mogami-class (最上級) ship, "Suzuya (鈴谷)," as it appeared during Operation Sho-Go 1 捷一號作戰 (Battle of Leyte Gulf 雷伊泰灣海戰) in October 1944.

● The hull cross-section differs from the Mogami (最上)/Mikuma (三隈), and dedicated parts are provided to depict the ship equipped with machine guns and radar that were modified based on wartime experience.

Hull Structure

・The side inclination at the middle deck level is reproduced with dedicated parts at a different angle than the Mogami-class (最上級).

・The appearance with the portholes closed, based on wartime experience, is reproduced with dedicated parts.

・The external electrical wiring is molded as one piece of the hull, representing a different running style from the Mogami (最上)/Mikuma (三隈).

・The ship's beam near the shelter deck is depicted as 1.0 mm narrower (on the model) compared to the Mogami (最上)/Mikuma (三隈).

Bridge/Foremast

・The foremast features dedicated parts for the Suzuya to reproduce the difference in height and crossbeam height.

・The foremast is equipped with one Type 21 radar and two Type 22 radars.

・The bridge windows are made of transparent parts for a more realistic finish.

・A dedicated bridge structure part for the Suzuya (鈴谷)/Kumano (熊野) is used next to the bridge, featuring a boiler room air intake.

Funnel/Air Intake/Linoleum Deck

・The slender funnel, a characteristic of the Suzuya (鈴谷)/Kumano (熊野), is provided as a dedicated part.

・The funnel cap is a molded part depicting a "removed" state.

・The steam exhaust pipe is a separate part for increased precision.

・The boiler room air intake below the funnel is reproduced with a dedicated part to show a different shape and size compared to the Mogami (最上)/Mikuma (三隈).

・The machine gun mounts next to the chimneys are specially shaped parts for the Suzuya (鈴谷)/Kumano (熊野).

・The air intakes behind the chimneys (below the searchlights) use special parts for the Suzuya (鈴谷)/Kumano (熊野).

・The linoleum deck uses special parts because the placement of ventilation pipes and equipment differs from the Mogami (最上)/Mikuma (三隈).

High-angle gun mounts/antenna supports

・The 12.7 cm twin high-angle gun mounts are special parts for the Suzuya (鈴谷)/Kumano (熊野), and the underside of the mounts has protrusions unique to the Suzuya (鈴谷)/Kumano (熊野).

・The antenna supports installed on the roofs of the 3rd and 4th main gun turrets are special parts that reproduce the unique shape of each ship.

Aft mast/Aft bridge/Crane

・The aft mast is a special Suzuya (鈴谷) design with a sloping, Y-shaped top, and is reproduced with the radar room installed.

・Features different crane parts from the Kumano (熊野), and is characterized by the precisely sculpted shape of the lightening holes.

・A special part is included to reproduce the air intake on the side of the aft bridge, which differs from that of the Mogami (最上).

Shelter Deck/Aircraft Operation Deck

・The shelter section, equipped with torpedo tubes, is three-dimensionally reproduced based on official drawings, including the spare torpedo storage area.

・The floor surface features a strip pattern reproduced with delicate, high-quality engraving.

・The catapult (Kure Type 2 Model 5) is realistically reproduced on the sides and top using slide molding.

・The aircraft operation deck reproduces an air intake slightly forward of the center, which was not present on the Mogami (最上)/Mikuma (三隈).

Aircraft

・The molded color is gray to improve workability (prevent damage during gate cutting).

・Two Zero (three-seat) seaplanes 零式水上偵察機 and one Zero observation seaplane 零式水上觀測機 are included.

Included Decals

・ Markings such as the naval ensign, national flag, and the Hinomaru 日之丸 (Japanese flag) on aircraft are included.

Includes limited-edition parts for the first production run.

・ In addition to the parts included in the kit, the 25 mm machine guns (triple/twin/single) include precision machine gun parts with separate barrels and mounts.

・ Designed for easy assembly; simply paint with gunmetal and battleship gray, then assemble and glue the parts together on the sprue.
