Description

[Model Specifications]

The Unryu (雲龍), the lead ship of the Unryu-class (雲龍級), a mass-produced medium-sized aircraft carrier during wartime, is now available with some product improvements!

The flight deck, a weak point of previous products, has been newly designed and molded for increased precision!

The Unryū (雲龍), as the lead ship of the Unryū-class (雲龍級), was completed at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal (橫須賀海軍工廠) in August 1944.

Planned as ship number 302 under the 1941 wartime construction plan, its construction was rushed to compensate for the loss of aircraft carriers after the Battle of Midway (中途島海戰).

Based on the design of the aircraft carrier Hiryū (飛龍號航空母艦), it underwent some modifications, including moving the bridge to starboard, adopting the same two-rudder system as the aircraft carrier Sōryū (蒼龍號航空母艦), and reducing the number of elevators from three to two.

From the time of its completion, the Unryū was painted in anti-submarine camouflage in colors No. 2 and No. 22 on its hull, and its appearance in historical photographs is strongly wartime.

At the time of its completion, the USS Marianas had lost most of its carrier-based air power, and it was unable to prepare enough aircraft to meet its operational capacity.

Therefore, it primarily conducted training and remained on standby in the Inland Sea.

In December 1944, it departed on an emergency supply run to the Philippines, carrying Ohka suicide attack aircraft.

During the transport operation, it was torpedoed by a US submarine in the East China Sea, ending its short life of only four months and sinking.

The Special Series is a 1/700 scale, waterline model reproducing the ship above the waterline.

With detailed parts division and delicate sculpting, it is a ship model with excellent detail reproduction.

□ The flight deck, which previously lacked accurate shape reproduction, has been newly designed and molded to achieve the current level of accuracy.

* Despite the often monotonous latex paint finish on the flight deck, the design is rich in detail, featuring diverse sculptural details such as aircraft mooring rings, arresting gear, and expansion joints.

* The Type 21 concealed radar and two concealed searchlights on the flight deck can be displayed in either the retracted or deployed state.

Two different model years are available for construction.

* The later-added machine gun mounts, turrets, and sponsons are separate parts, allowing for the reproduction of both the initial and final configurations.

Camouflage decals are included to easily recreate the camouflage-painted appearance of the flight deck.

A variety of carrier-based aircraft are included.

* The carrier-based aircraft are four types owned by the 601st Air Group, which existed as a carrier-based unit after the ship's completion: the "Zero Fighter Type 52, 零式艦上戦闘機 五二型" "Zero Fighter Type 21 with bombs, 零式艦上戦闘機 二一型 爆戰" "Suisei 彗星艦上轟炸機," and "Tenzan 天山艦上攻擊機."

* Includes the "Ōka 櫻花特別攻擊機" suicide attack aircraft that was loaded in the hangar during the transport operation at the time of the sinking.

□ The molded parts of the hull are light green to ensure good color development with the No. 22 paint on the hull.

[First-run limited bonus]

Includes a two-piece Type 96 25 mm machine gun.

* This is a new design, making it easy to paint the gunmetal barrel and the hull color of the base separately.

* Assembly is designed with mass production in mind.

A user-friendly design where you simply fit the two sprues together and then apply liquid adhesive to the pre-aligned parts.
