Description
[The Second-Generation Fairlady Z: Enhanced Appeal with a T-Bar Roof]
Since its debut in 1969 with the first-generation model (S30), the Nissan Fairlady Z has enjoyed worldwide popularity as a sports car.
In 1978, the second-generation model (S130) arrived as a complete redesign.
It retained the basic long-nose, short-deck design, while improving aerodynamics.
The mechanical components also evolved, with the rear suspension changed from a strut to a semi-trailing arm design.
Brakes were upgraded to disc brakes on all four wheels.
Engines included a 2.0-liter and 2.8-liter inline-6 with electronic fuel injection, giving it the character of a high-speed touring car.
In 1980, it became the first Japanese car to feature a T-bar roof, allowing the removal of both sides of the roof while leaving a narrow strip in the center.
This offered open-car-like open-air driving, while maintaining excellent weather resistance.
With its superior performance, safety, and comfort, the second-generation Fairlady Z cemented its reputation as a truly remarkable vehicle.
