Description
[Fusion of Racing Mechanics and Unique Form]
The 1199 Panigale, Ducati's superbike that debuted at the 2011 Milan Show, is a new design.
Instead of the signature Ducati steel tubing frame, it adopts an aluminum monocoque frame similar to that of the Desmosedici GP11 MotoGP racer.
It's powered by a 1198cc liquid-cooled L-twin engine that produces 195 horsepower, the most powerful in its class.
Furthermore, the engine is used as a structural component of the frame, and the monocoque frame, which also doubles as the airbox, and the single-arm swingarm are directly attached to it, achieving high rigidity and light weight.
Engine power output and suspension are all electronically controlled, making it a unique bike.
Its slimline form, surprisingly unrecognizable for a liter bike, has earned it numerous design awards, adding to its appeal along with its riding performance.
