[Winning MotoGP Championship in the 100th Anniversary Year]
In 2020, Suzuki celebrated its 100th anniversary and 60 years of racing by entering two machines in the MotoGP class, the premier class of the world road racing championship. The Team Suzuki Ecstar GSX-RR, named after Suzuki's genuine high-performance engine oil brand "Ecstar," is equipped with a four-stroke, water-cooled, in-line four-cylinder engine and has steadily improved every year since its debut in 2015.
Furthermore, the GSX-RR has been completely redesigned from its predominantly blue livery of previous years to a blue and silver color scheme reminiscent of GP racers from the 1960s.
The GSX-RR, entrusted to Joan Mir and Alex Rins, lived up to expectations, with J. Mir achieving seven podium finishes, including a win in the 13th round, the European GP, to take the Riders' Championship. And A. Rins also won the 11th round, the Aragon GP, scoring points throughout the season and contributing to the team's title.
It was a remarkable achievement worthy of this memorable milestone year.
