The Shinkai 6500 is the world's only manned submersible research vessel capable of diving to a depth of 6,500 meters.

It carries three crew members, two pilots and one researcher, and conducts a variety of deep-sea research and investigations.

Since its completion in 1990, it has completed more than 1,250 dives,
reporting new discoveries one after another.
