Description

[The Glory of the Racing Mini Returns]

Introduced in 1959, the Morris Mini Minor, with its groundbreaking front-wheel-drive layout, achieved a spacious interior despite its small body.

It quickly became a best-selling car in Britain. Among its various models, the "Mini Cooper" stood out as a particularly high-performance sports model.

Developed with the cooperation of then-F1 constructor John Cooper, this model featured an inline four-cylinder engine with its displacement increased from 848 cc to 1275 cc, equipped with twin carburetors, producing 75 horsepower and a top speed of 155 km/h.

To match the increased horsepower, the front brakes were changed from drum to disc, and the suspension was also revised, among other improvements.

The Cooper, with its nimble handling, achieved great success on the racetracks of the 1960s, winning numerous races, including the British Saloon Car Championship and the European Touring Car Championship, demonstrating its high performance.
