Description

[A Trusted Hound That Roamed the Battlefield]

The Staghound Mk. I was a four-wheeled armored car developed by GM's Chevrolet division based on the US Army's requirements for a new armored reconnaissance vehicle in 1941, early in World War II.

Featuring a large welded hull and a cast turret with a 37 mm gun, its armor was up to 32 mm thick, providing solid defensive capabilities for a wheeled vehicle of the time.

It was also equipped with two 97 hp water-cooled gasoline engines, giving it a top speed of 88.5 km/h on the road.

When the US Army subsequently adopted the smaller and lighter M8 Greyhound, the Staghound was reserved for the British Commonwealth and was deployed to many Commonwealth armies, including those of the UK and New Zealand.

Beginning on the Italian front in 1943 and continuing to serve in command and reconnaissance roles until the end of the war, it continued to serve for many years after the war with the armies of various countries.

[Model Specifications]

● This is a 1/35 scale plastic assembly kit of the Staghound Mk. I, an American-made armored car used by the British Commonwealth forces in the latter half of World War II.

● Measuring 159 mm in length, the large, flat-structured hull and rounded cast turret are realistically modeled.

● The turret and hull hatches can be selected to be opened or closed, and the turret basket and main gun loading compartment are also reproduced.

● The underside of the hull, including the suspension and drive shaft, is also finished with a rich sense of three-dimensional detail.

● Photo-etched parts are provided for key areas of the hull, such as the light guards, machine gun mounts, and belts tightening the spare fuel tank.

● Three figures are included, including a commander and loader that fit into the turret hatch, and a standing crew member.

● Five types of decals are available, including for the British Army and the Free Polish Army.

● The set also includes a 48-page A5-sized photo reference book (in English) and a summary in Japanese. (The hull parts are manufactured by Italeri.)
