Description
[A Unique and Famous Supporting Character on the Battlefield]
During World War II, the British Army used a variety of pickup truck-style military vehicles built on passenger car chassis.
These small military vehicles, known as light utility cars, were developed and produced by several companies based on their own designs, but regardless of the manufacturer or model, they were affectionately known to soldiers as the Tilly.
Typically equipped with a 30 hp engine and rear-wheel drive, they were largely used for communication missions behind the lines and at air bases, continuing to operate until the end of the war.
