Description

[The Glorious 1976 World Champion Machine]

The 1976 World Championship for Manufacturers, contested by Group 5 racing cars, began.

The Porsche 935 was developed to dominate and took the championship that year.

While Group 5 cars allowed for significant modifications, regulations required that they retain the silhouette (exterior) of the base production vehicle, earning it the nickname "Silhouette Formula."

Based on the Porsche 930 Turbo, the 935 featured wide fenders front and rear, a rear wing with a large overhang, and a redesigned front with a flat nose for aerodynamic benefits.

This resulted in a redesigned, more powerful look.

The rear-mounted 2857cc flat-six engine, combined with a KKK turbocharger, produced 590 horsepower.

The suspension and brakes were also strengthened, and the body was made lighter.

In 1976, the 935 won four of the seven races, bringing Porsche the championship.
