[Yamaha's Flagship Reaches New Heights]
The original Yamaha YZF-R1, released in 1998 with the development concept of "fastest on winding roads," revolutionized the concept of large-displacement supersport bikes, which excelled at high-speed cruising.
It attracted the envy of motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide. It continued to evolve, and in 2015 underwent a full model change with the aim of becoming "fastest on the circuit."
The special version, the YZF-R1M, incorporates Yamaha's MotoGP-honed technology to maximize the power of its 998cc liquid-cooled 4-cylinder engine, which produces a maximum output of 200 horsepower.
It is equipped with various electronic control devices to assist riding, enabling it to fully utilize the power.
It also features a data logger function that records riding conditions such as lap times, and a carbon fiber cowl.
With looks reminiscent of the YZR-M1 factory racer and a refined form that evokes 20 years of evolution, the new Yamaha flagship YZF-R1M is once again captivating motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide.

Talk Show with the Development Staff of the Full-Scale Model and Model Kit
In September 2018, a talk event was held at the Tamiya Plastic Model Factory Shimbashi store to commemorate the release of the Yamaha YZF-R1M.
Development staff from both the full-scale model and model kit were invited to participate in a talk session that both motorcycle and model kit fans could enjoy, sharing their favorite features and behind-the-scenes stories.
