Description

[Base model for the most powerful touring car in its class that ignited the 1960s]

Alfa Romeo's Giulia Sprint GT was a two-door coupe that garnered popularity in the 1960s.

Its beautifully finished coupe body, featuring a distinctive "stepped" front profile, was powered by an all-aluminum 1570cc 4-cylinder DOHC engine and a front double-wishbone and rear rigid suspension for nimble driving performance.

The GTA, a racing model based on the Giulia Sprint GT, was added in 1965.

The "A" stands for "Alleggerita," meaning lightweight in Italian.

Its aluminum body and twin spark plugs significantly reduced weight, while the engine's power was boosted by a twin spark plug.

An estimated 500 GTAs were produced, most of which were further tuned for racing by Alfa Romeo's racing division, Autodelta, and saw great success in clubman races and the European Touring Car Championship in the late 1960s.

It won class championships in 1966, 1967, and 1969.
