The Soarer was released in February 1981 as Toyota's first top-class personal coupe.

Its sophisticated long-nose, short-deck style, high-performance 6-cylinder engine, and cutting-edge car electronics at the time attracted a lot of attention and popularity.

The VR Turbo was added to the Soarer in June 1981.

It was equipped with a 2-liter inline 6-cylinder SOHC turbo engine that produces 145 horsepower, a 4-speed automatic transmission, and a 4-wheel independent suspension with front struts and rear semi-trailing suspension, all of which were designed to provide excellent driving performance.

The luxurious interior, which includes a digital meter with an indicator showing the effectiveness of the turbo and a genuine leather steering wheel, is also a highlight.
